CTET 2026 — Rules & Regulations

Everything you must know before appearing for CTET July 2026

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
🎓 Minimum Qualification Required
Paper I (Classes 1–5)
Senior Secondary (12th) with min. 50% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed. OR B.El.Ed. OR B.Ed. (Special Ed.)
Paper II (Classes 6–8)
Graduation with min. 50% marks + B.Ed. / B.Ed. (Special Ed.) OR 4-year B.El.Ed.
Age Limit
Minimum 18 years. No upper age limit for CTET.
Nationality
Indian Citizens, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs eligible to appear.
EXAM DAY RULES

Reporting Time
Report at exam centre at least 60 minutes before exam start time. Entry gates close 30 minutes before. Late entry not allowed.

Admit Card & Photo ID
Carry printed admit card (digital not accepted) + one valid photo ID: Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, Driving Licence or PAN card.

Dress Code
Wear light-coloured clothes with half sleeves. No full-sleeve clothes, jackets, or caps. Sandals preferred. No metal accessories.

OMR Sheet Rules
Use only black/blue ballpoint pen. Fill circles completely and darkly. Do NOT use whitener, overwrite, or fold the OMR sheet.

No Negative Marking
CTET has no negative marking. Attempt all questions. Wrong answer = 0 marks, not negative. Always attempt all 150 questions.

Qualifying Marks
General: 60% (90/150). SC/ST/OBC/PwD: 55% (82/150). Both papers can be attempted in same sitting if desired.

Number of Attempts
No restriction on number of attempts for CTET. Candidates can appear as many times as desired to improve their score.

Certificate Validity
CTET certificate is valid for lifetime as per CBSE circular (August 2021). Earlier it was 7 years, now it is permanent.

Malpractice
Any form of cheating or impersonation leads to permanent disqualification from CTET and may result in criminal proceedings.

Result Declaration
Results declared on ctet.nic.in. Digital mark sheet available on DigiLocker. Certificate sent by post to registered address.

Paper I + Paper II Together
Candidates can appear for both papers in the same examination cycle. Separate admit cards issued for each paper.
